Dr. Kalpana S Hegde is a Consultant ENT Specialist at SPARSH Hospital. Dr. Kalpana completed her graduation (MBBS) from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore and Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO) from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, with the Best Outgoing Student of the Year award. Later she completed DNB in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore.
She has published numerous papers in renowned medical journals and also actively participated in research activities. With extensive training in prestigious institutions and a decade long practice in the field, she has expertise in all aspects of general ENT as well as head and neck surgeries including microscopic ear surgeries, endoscopic sinus surgeries, surgeries for voice disorders and snoring, salivary gland surgeries and thyroid surgeries. She is especially interested in endoscopic sinus surgeries and neck surgeries.
Previously working as a consultant at Bhimavaram Hospital, a tertiary care hospital in coastal Andhra Pradesh, she has managed a variety of cases independently with her excellent surgical expertise.
The prizes and awards to her name include:
- The Dr. Mahadevaiah Gold Medal for the Best Postgraduate Paper Presentation for her paper on “Thyroid malignancies – a retrospective study.”
- Secured second prize in a otolaryngology quiz competition at the 23rd Karnataka State AOI Annual Conference held at Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubli, in May 2005.
- Secured first prize in her intercollegiate postgraduate otolaryngology quiz competition held in regional AOI CME Meeting in August 2005.
- Secured the Best Outgoing Student Award in DLO for the year 2005.
