Dr.Ponnanna after completing MS Orthopaedics from SDM College of medical sciences and Hospital in the year 2015 under Rajeev Gandhi University of health sciences, further completed his DNB orthopaedics in December 2015. He then did his fellowship in Adult reconstruction Surgery specialising in Shoulder,Hip and Knee under one of the  eminent Arthroscopy and Joint replacement surgeon Dr Sachin Tapasvi from Pune. Following his, fellowship he worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon at Ramaiah Memorial Hospital and Ms Ramaiah Medical college. He then went for fellowship in Australia under the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA).

He completed fellowship in Shoulder, Elbow and knee Sports(Arthroscopy) and Joint replacement in August 2020 from Sydney. After completing his fellowship in 2020 August, he was selected for another fellowship under Australian Orthopaedic association in Hip and Knee Sports medicine and Joint replacement. He has worked in multiple hospitals in Sydney and underwent his Hip and Knee fellowship under Dr Peter Walker one of the best Hip and Knee surgeon in Sydney at Concord Repatriation Public Hospital which was awarded the best Hip and Knee centre in Sydney for 2020-2021. Dr Ponnanna has undergone extensive training in Sports medicine and joint replacement for 4 years and specifically trained in Robotic and computer navigated knee and minimally invasive Hip replacement. He has various publications in national and international journals and also conducts several educational courses to orthopaedic surgeons and residents
